Introduction
Your photograph(s) will be handled with “Great Care” during the restoration process. Whether you are submitting actual hard copy photographs in colour, black and white, sepia tone, old style Tin Types or comparable, original negatives, Polaroid prints, etc., the procedure is “Professional” from start to the completion of your order.
Cleaning of Originals
There are several necessary steps involved in professional restoration work of your photograph(s), beginning with a thorough examination under magnification of your imagery. This reveals details and an in-depth account of the damage to the original. It also indicates the steps required to restore photographs and produce an excellent updated version.
Following the initial inspection of your imagery, cleaning of the original with archival cloths and brushes is implemented to remove any excess dust and debris prior to copying. This is mandatory to ensure we obtain as much detail of your original as possible. Cleaning of prints is never a hurried, rush through procedure. We take the time to “Very Gently” address all surface particles that should be removed prior to copy work, producing a cleaner image to upload into our computer software correctional systems.
All aspects of your original photograph are itemized on a detailed list to ensure that nothing is overlooked. Following this detailed report, a fee is established. During my evaluation, it will also be determined as to how the image will be copied meaning either on our high-end professional photography scanner system or by utilizing our professional copy work studio set up utilizing cross-polarized lighting.
Computer Optimization Software
We currently utilize nine professional restoration software programs to address all aspects of the original. It is very seldom that we are unable to correct damaged photographs due to the vast flexibility of our software systems.
*It should be noted that imagery that is blurry or out of focus does have limitations in the restoration process; however, our sharpening methods are superior, and every effort is made to reinstate your original.
Completion Of Order Including A Restored Photograph
Upon completion of your order, you will receive a professional hard copy custom printed photograph similar to the size of your original. *Depending upon how damaged your original is, will determine realistically the reformatted size of the newly generated professional print from our lab. This will be determined during your initial consultation when assesing the damage of the original. You will also receive a social media quality digital file of the restored image to be shared with family and friends.
Turn Around Time
Your photographs mean a “great deal” to my business as a professional photographic restoration artist. I will never rush through an assignment which inevitably, produces work of an inferior nature. Depending upon the volume ahead of yours determines the time when you are eligible to collect your items from the studio. In a general sense, I always suggest to clients to allow approximately 8 weeks time which accommodates previous client orders.
